Teens charged with shaving, clubbing disabled woman

In Cincinnati, Ohio, Cheyenne Blanton, 17, and Joseph Nagle, 16were arraigned Monday on juvenile delinquency charges that include aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, felonious assault and vandalism, according to juvenile court officials. The two teenagers spent more than six hours torturing Ashley Clark, an 18-year old disabled woman after her mother left in the morning. They tied her up, clubbed her, kicked her, shaved her head and soaked her with water before making her walk barefoot outside in the snow. Investigators said that they also ignored pleas from the woman, who had undergone brain surgery, not to hit her in the head.

According to The Associated Press, Sheila Clark, the disabled womans mother, want the teenagers tried as adults, and Jones said the two could get 75 years to life in prison if tried and convicted as adults. “I want full justice for my daughter,” Clark said Monday. “Those two never need to walk the streets again.” She also said “I can’t understand how anyone could do this to anyone, but especially to someone with such a beautiful, loving heart.”

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said the teenagers hid overnight in the basement of the Clark home, intending to steal the car and leave town before an upcoming juvenile court appearance date for one of the suspects.

I think that this is just a ridiculous case and I feel that the two teenagers should be charged as adults, even though they are under the age of 18. Clearly if they are charged as delinquents it will have an extremely lighter effect on them than going to jail would. These two where already ‘running from the law’ and who says they won’t do it again the second they get out of juvie? I may be wrong but it seems that if you go to juvie it doesn’t really mean that you will never do anything wrong again. Same goes for jail, but i think that they are already used to going to juvenile hall and won’t mind going a few more times. I feel that they should have an adult sentence, but not as severe as 75+ years, something a lot lighter would be fine. I think they just need to be shown how life in jail is, so that maybe it will make them not want to ever go there again.

  1. This story is really unnerving. I mean, what would push someone to do such a horrible thing to anyone! It is cruel and inhumane. I agree completely that they should be charged as adults and throne in jail for a while. 75 years would be great. I don’t think that Juvie would do them any good. I would prefer if they were just locked away.

I can’t believe that someone could be so cruel. To attack someone who could defend themselves is a serious crime in itself but, to attack someone who has no chance to protect themselves is just…..cruel.
I think that they should get a serious sentencing. If a 14 year old can be charged as an adult, why can’t they?

  3. Thats crazy. These kids should get treated as adults. These kids pretty much attacked a person while they were down. She couldnt defend herself. They should get locked up for 75 years atleast, in real prison. To me life in prison for that is a little harsh but 75 years sounds good. I guess there really isnt a difference.

What is the world coming to? These kids should definitely tried as adults and thrown in jail for life. This is an injustice. How can you do that to a person who is disabled? Have they no heart? I guess not because you must be really really cruel to do something like that. I hope that this young lady gets the justice she deserved and I hope those delinquents rot in jail.
